At the start of the contract Adana worked on the Picton reading room, forming steps in the sand stone rock.
As work proceeded Adana installed drainage, ducting, concrete retaining walls, core drilled, broke out concrete structures, built brick walls and laid tarmac.
The main entrance fronts the historic William Brown Street. Adana installed extensive hard landscaping including granite clad retaining walls, steps, resin bound gravel, new York stone paving slabs and reclaimed originally used at the library. Allowance was made for lighting in the paving
The main walkway to the front entrance Adana laid a granite literary carpet inscribed with titles of well-known books.
