The shopping complex in the Centre of Wigan for Modus Developments.
Within our package, we constructed a variety of elements, Substructures, Groundworks and Civil Works including:
Cropping concrete piles, casting pile caps and ground beams with holding down bolts.
Retaining Walls: Construction of 200 lm of reinforced concrete retaining walls up to 5m high, within cofferdams.
Tensar Walls: The retaining walls were made from either block or mesh systems. The walls were built in progressively with layers of geo grid being used in the backfill behind the wall to support the face of the wall, the mesh walls were built up to 6.5m high and 350 linear metres were construction.
Drainage: We installed drainage pipes up to 600mm in diameter to a depth of 6m. Trench/drag boxes and sheet piles equipment were used to support the sides of the excavations. A cofferdam was installed for a water attenuation tank 20m x 4m diameter. It was lowered into position by a specialised controlled crane lift from the main road. The lift took place on a Sunday which required considerable organisation between the parties involved.
Service yard reinforced concrete slab: The area of the service yard was 400m2. Our concrete pour sequence was restricted because we had to maintain access for other contractors gaining access to the site.
