In 2017, Adana Construction was appointed to deliver extensive structural modifications to an existing four-storey basement in Manchester City Centre. The scope of works included strengthening the existing reinforced concrete foundations, columns and walls, the demolition and re-construction of a four-storey lift core, and a tunnelling operation to install a new drainage outfall.
The modifications required the existing reinforcement to be retained, which Adana successfully achieved using a number of specialist techniques including hydro-demolition. The project also involved temporary works of varying complexity. Throughout the programme, Adana worked in close collaboration with the client, structural engineers, temporary works designers, and independent checking engineers to ensure the works were delivered to the highest standard.
