The Co-op Live Arena in Manchester is a landmark 23,500-capacity entertainment venue constructed using a steel-framed structure. The building is formed as four interlinked yet structurally independent quadrants, separated by movement joints to accommodate thermal expansion and structural behaviour. The scheme presented complex ground conditions. Adana Construction delivered a comprehensive package of works, commencing with enabling works including drainage infrastructure, service duct connections, formation of new site access routes, trial holes and survey works. The works progressed through to the full external works package, comprising Section 278 works, kerbing, paving, drainage, ducting and extensive hard landscaping.

The Greater Manchester Major Trauma Hospital, located on the Salford Royal site, began construction in February 2021 and officially opened in May 2024. The facility provides 90 in-patient beds, five new operating theatres, a dedicated helipad and the UK’s first RAPTOR hybrid major trauma theatre. Adana Construction’s scope included the groundworks, reinforced concrete frame, and external works packages. The project comprised an eight-storey, 10,000m² reinforced concrete structure, incorporating four reinforced concrete cores constructed on piled foundations. A critical project constraint was its immediate adjacency to the live Accident & Emergency department and designated Blue Light routes. These were maintained fully operational and uninterrupted throughout the works, requiring meticulous planning, logistics management, and strict health & safety control.

101 Embankment is an 11-storey Grade A office development constructed above a Grade II listed sandstone viaduct in Manchester. The steel-framed building features a two-storey podium and a continuous glazed curtain wall façade, comprising the first phase of the wider Embankment development. Adana Construction’s package involved forming a complex podium foundation cast integrally with the roof slab of an existing concrete basement containing a fully operational car park. Adana’s works also included metal decking installation, in-situ concrete floor construction, full external works package (including drainage, ducting and hard landscaping), and reinstatement of historical features along Cathedral Approach. The project required careful structural integration and coordination due to the heritage constraints and live basement below.
